She means it. You can tell by the ease that she carries throughout the film (understandable exception--when the air-raid sirens went off--that chilled me, too). This speaks well to Petter's process, and the sense of confidence he instills in the models. It is apparent here, and elsewhere in Petter's work, that the models like working with him.

as you probably have noticed, most of our recent "a day in the life" movies were shot in ukraine, a country currently in a brutal war with russia. did you not hear the air raid sirens in this movie ? so, these are like "free standing" productions. we try to work as discretely and safely as possible in locations that are not a typical target for the russians. and these are models based in ukraine, and to travel is hazardous. when the war is over, we will try to revisit some of these models in more peaceful circumstances. ph

I love that you and Lana continued to shoot during the sirens. Their has to be something beyond this terrible war and death. That you two proved that life and beauty can go on was very moving.

It's a bit encouraging to know that beauty can still thrive in the midst of the atrocities in Ukraine. I, and I presume many others, wish strength, encouragement, and perseverance to Lana and all Ukrainians resisting tyranny.
